What is Sound & how does it work?
Sound is vibration. When sound waves move through the body, they are perceived by the auditory system and processed by the brain and nervous system.

Sound-based therapies work by influencing the nervous system through rhythm, tone, and frequency. Certain sounds can encourage shifts in brainwave patterns and support the body’s natural relaxation response.

When the nervous system moves from a heightened stress state into a more regulated state, people often experience:

• Reduced muscular tension
• Slower breathing
• Improved relaxation
• Greater emotional ease

This process is often described as entrainment, where the body’s internal rhythms begin to synchronise with external rhythmic stimuli.

Rather than “fixing” the body, sound therapy supports the body’s innate ability to regulate and restore balance.

Modern research into the autonomic nervous system, stress physiology, and brainwave states helps us understand how rhythmic auditory stimulation can influence relaxation, focus, and recovery.

Sound therapy does not replace medical treatment, but it may support overall wellbeing by encouraging nervous system regulation and restorative states.
