Sound Therapy – Safety & Contraindications

Your safety and wellbeing are always prioritised.
Sound therapy is generally considered a gentle and non-invasive complementary practice. However, as with all body-based or frequency-based work, certain precautions apply.
If you are unsure whether sound therapy is suitable for you, please consult your GP or healthcare professional prior to booking.

Pregnancy

There is often misunderstanding around sound exposure during pregnancy.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) advises that pregnant individuals avoid prolonged exposure to very high noise levels (above 115 decibels).
Group sound sessions offered by The Golden Rose Galaxy are delivered well below these levels and are structured to promote calm, not intensity.

One-to-one sessions involving direct instrument placement on the body are not recommended during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. After the first trimester, modified sessions may be offered following discussion and appropriate adjustments.

Sound-based relaxation practices may support stress reduction and nervous system regulation during pregnancy.

However, if you have any concerns or a high-risk pregnancy, please consult your healthcare provider before attending.

Contraindications – Direct Instrument Application

Instruments are not placed directly on the body in the following cases:
• Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or known thrombi
• Open wounds
• Acute inflammation or infection
• Directly over pacemakers or defibrillators
• Directly over metallic implants
• Immediately post-surgery before full healing
• Severe carotid artery conditions

Medical Devices & Neurological Conditions

If you have any of the following, please consult your doctor before booking a one-to-one session:
• Pacemaker or implanted cardiac device
• Artificial heart valve
• Stent or shunt
• Deep brain stimulation device (DBS)
• Epilepsy
• Significant cardiac arrhythmia
Sessions may still be possible with appropriate adjustments and safety considerations.

General Guidance

Sound therapy is complementary and does not replace medical treatment or diagnosis.
If you are currently undergoing medical treatment, have a serious health condition, or are unsure whether this work is suitable for you, please consult your healthcare provider prior to attending.

Practitioner Standards

Sound therapy is currently an unregulated field in the UK. For your safety, it is important to seek practitioners who have completed accredited training in one-to-one sound applications and understand appropriate contraindications and safety protocols.

The Golden Rose Galaxy adheres to structured training, ethics & safety guidelines, and professional boundaries in all sessions.
